The Beavers U-18 side played three games at the National Capital Youth Rugby Festival on July 24th: one vs the Guelph Highlanders, one vs the Kingston Panthers, and one vs the Indians.

The day started out with a tough test against a Guelph team that came very well prepared for the day. We fell behind early, but a quick score at the end of the first half followed by a well worked try early in the second half pulled us within reach of the win.

In our second match, we played  a tough Kingston side in a physical battle. The official score of the game was 0-0, but Jack Krentz scored a try with no time left in the corner and the ref decided to overrule the touch judge’s decision that he had remained in bounds, and nullified the try. We’re notching that one as a win.

By the third game, injuries and the heat took a bit of a toll on the squad, as we put out our worst performance of the day. Nevertheless, work rates remained high and with some better execution we would have taken the match.

All and all, it was a good day of rugby at Twin Elm.
