As part of the club’s efforts to increase our involvement in local high schools, we will be organizing some sessions early in the new year to help provide some training and guidance to club members who are interested in helping with high school coaching. Anyone who is coaching at or is just considering coaching at a high school level is encouraged to attend.
The sessions will focus on providing interested individuals with a basic skill set and some takeaway tools with which to begin coaching at a high school level and will be led by club members who have experience in this area.
Dates and locations for the clinics will be provided later, but for now we need to get a sense of how many people we’d need to accommodate. Keep in mind that there is no cost associated to participating in these sessions, so if you’re unsure of your level of commitment at this point in time, don’t let that dissuade you from attending.
Please email our VP Development, Mike Ash (rugbymike77@hotmail.com) if you are interested in participating. Please also let him know what areas of the city you’d be willing to help coach in, if you have not already been hooked up with a program.
There are also some courses being held in Ottawa in late January and early April to provide formal accreditation to coaches. Please let Mike know if you have any interest in pursuing that option also.
