As some of you may know, two of our younger club members, Eric Howard and Kevin Blackburn, are playing for the Lower Canada Voyageurs U19 team at the Canada Regional Rugby Championships in Edmonton next weekend. The Voyageurs are a joint representative team between the Eastern Ontario Rugby Union (of which we are a part) and the Federation de Rugby du Quebec.
Unfortunately, representative rugby is still operated on a “pay to play” basis in Canada, so players wishing to play at a higher level must pay to be members of rep teams and to travel to games and events. This means that players must either raise funds through fundraising activities or foot the build themselves.
