The Ottawa Beavers and Banshees Rugby Football Club is mourning the passing of its founder Freddie Miller, at age 89.
Freddie “Reverend” Miller was responsible for establishing rugby in Ottawa with the creation of our Club in 1951, and the OBBRFC owes him a debt of gratitude for everything we have today.
Freddie was a busy guy on the rugby scene, dedicating his life to growing the sport in Ontario; beyond the OBBRFC, he founded four other clubs in Toronto and helped establish the Ontario Rugby Union itself.
Needless to say, Freddie deserved his 1999 induction into the Rugby Ontario Hall of Fame.
More can be read about Freddie’s life and achievements growing the game through the Rugby Ontario press release.
