Return_of_the_jedi_logoGirls rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, and it is time to offer girls in the downtown area (Glebe, Old Ottawa East/South, Vanier) the opportunity to play outside of high school in a locally-driven Club environment.

With the re-introduction of the Junior Beavers team two years ago, the OBBRFC have proven that it’s possible to field a junior rugby team that is both successful (6-1 record in the 2016 season!) and incubates the Club’s values of hard work, perseverance and – most importantly – fun and teamsmanship.

And it is with the success of this pilot that the Club announces the expansion of its junior rugby program and the re-introduction of the Junior Banshees rugby team.

Launching in early June, the Junior Banshees will be based out of Immaculata High School, with practices taking place on Monday and Wednesday evenings. The team will compete in the Eastern Ontario Rugby Union’s u18 girls division.

The launch of this u18 team is a major milestone for the OBBRFC, and it brings a much-needed girls rugby team to the downtown Ottawa-area.

Registration is now open, and practices will begin early June. Stay tuned.
