The Beavers and Banshees returned to the Truro 7s World Indoor Rugby Tournament last weekend for our annual tour to the East Coast.
The Banshees, joined by some friends from the Wolves and the St. FX women’s rugby team, opened the tournament with an 8-0 win over St. Anne University. The Banshees next game at 11:40pm on Friday night was (thankfully?) cancelled because a Nor’Easter nuked half the Maritimes and the barn lost power. On Saturday, they then took to the field to play Enfield (who later went on to win the whole women’s division) in an extremely physical and thoroughly entertaining 5-3 loss.
The Beavers and Carleton Men’s squads merged together to create a single squad…entered into the tournament as two separate teams. That meant lots of game time for the boys, which they thoroughly enjoyed (see: Pillars of Hard Work and Perseverance!). Competition in the men’s B division was exceptionally strong this year, as were the Beavers’ warm-up drinks. Beavs opened up the tournament with a 4-4 tie to the Dartmouth PigDogs, and then lost the next couple games along with Lester’s flawless facial features.
Social antics at Truro are always a great time, and this year was no exception from the norm. Nothing says “The OBBRFC has arrived” like an army of unicorns on the dance floor!
