The Junior Beavers started the weekend’s rugby off with a game against the once-mighty Bytown Blues junior men’s team. Pierre opened up the scoring early in the match, and then put a few more in to help secure a tight win.
The Junior Banshees played the Kingston Panthers at Twin Elm on Sunday. With Big Malak putting down the first try, the girls played hard for the full game. But they really stepped it up in the last minutes while they were down a conversion. The hard work and perseverance paid off as they managed to take the lead and finish the game with a W. The Junior Banshees finish their regular season going into playoffs currently tied for 1st place in the division.
The Senior Beavers 2nd XV travelled to play everyone’s favourite team, the XV de Montreal, in an extremely hot game (yay turf). It was a pretty close match given that this was the opposition’s 1st team against our 2s, and our 1s were playing in Ottawa. Plus there was no shortage of classic XV de Montreal shenanigans throughout the game. The Beavers 2s are now tied for 2nd place in the FRQ Development Division.
The Beavers 1st XV stayed in Ottawa to take on the Ottawa Ospreys (née Indians). Following last month’s tie game between the two teams, both were eager to take this one for themselves and claim the cross-town divisional rivalry. The Beavers overcame with a hard-fought win over the Ospreys. The Beavers 1s are now in second place in the FRQ Provincial 2 Division going into the home stretch of the season.
