The club runs two women's teams: Senior Women's Division 1, Senior Women's Division 2.

Senior Women's 1st XV
The Women's Division 1 team competes in the East Division of the FRQ (Quebec Rugby League) against the Ottawa Indians 1, Montreal Barbarians 2, Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue 2, St. Lambert, and TMR 2. Teams play each other twice in the regular season, which begins in May and continues through to mid-August. Playoffs take place towards the end of August.

Senior Women's 2nd XV
The Women's Division 2 team competes in the Russell League of the EORU against the Ottawa Indians 2, Ottawa Irish 2, Ottawa Scottish 2, and Kingston. The season starts in June and ends in August with playoffs at the end of the month.

The Eastern Ontario Rugby Union (EORU)
The EORU is the governing body for the sport of rugby in Eastern Ontario. The EORU is administered by a volunteer executive elected at the EORU Annual General Meeting usually held in January. The EORU does not have any paid staff. The EORU represents the region at meetings of the ORU and the Canadian Rugby Union and administers scheduling, referees, score reporting and league standings for Men's, Women's, Junior and Mini Rugby in Eastern Ontario. A portion of the approx. $4500 in annual dues that the Beavers pay to the EORU goes towards the payment of referees and funding for Eastern Ontario Men's, Women's and Junior Regional Representative Programs, the rest goes forward to the ORU.

The Ontario Rugby Union (ORU)
The ORU is the governing body for the sport of rugby in Ontario. The ORU is administered by a volunteer executive elected at the ORU Annual General Meeting. The ORU also employs three full-time staff. The ORU administers player registration, scheduling, referees, score reporting and league standings for the ORU Men's and Women's leagues. The portion of the dues that the Beavers pay to the EORU which goes forward to the ORU is mainly for player insurance and also goes towards the salaries of the full-time staff and funding for Ontario Men's, Women's and Junior Provincial Representative Programs.

Matches

Division 1 matches are played on Saturdays (occasionally on Sundays). Home games will take place at Twin Elm Rugby Park. Kick-off is anywhere between noon and 3 p.m.

Game day for Division 2 matches varies. Home games are typically on Wednesday evenings at TERP with a kick-off time of 6:30 p.m. Games involving travel tend to be on the weekend.

Selected players and reserves should be in the changeroom one hour prior to kick-off.

Home Park - Twin Elm Rugby Park (TERP)
TERP is owned by the four founding clubs that funded the construction of the park 25 years ago - the Bytown Blues, the Ottawa Beavers, the Ottawa Indians and the Ottawa Irish. Yes that is correct, as a member of the Ottawa Beavers, you are a part-owner of Twin Elm. TERP is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors elected at the TERP Annual General Meeting. TERP also employs staff to maintain the grounds and facilities and run the bar during the spring, summer and fall. The approx. $5000 in annual dues that the Beavers pay to TERP goes towards the maintenance of the grounds and facilities and towards the salaries of the staff.

History of the Banshees

Founded in 1979, the Ottawa Banshees Women's Sports Club was a multi-sport club dedicated to the development of women in sports. In years past, the Ottawa Banshees had teams participating in broomball, soccer, and softball leagues in addition to rugby, but more recently the club's focus has shifted solely to women's rugby.

The club has approximately 100 members, including 60 active players that reside in the Ottawa area, as well as several social members who reside across the country and overseas. The Banshees are proud to have been represented at the regional, provincial and national levels

Throughout the years, club members have been encouraged to participate in various aspects of club activities, including playing, coaching, and refereeing, as well as participating in executive activities, social events, and fundraising initiatives.

In October 2001, the Ottawa Banshees accepted the proposal to amalgamate with the Ottawa Beavers, forming the Ottawa Beavers-Banshees Rugby Football Club. We look forward to continued success on and off the field in the coming season.
